UC San Diego’s Jacobs Hall Cleanroom is at the forefront of efforts to establish a new National Neurotechnology Laboratory. As the first on campus facility to be a cGMP-certified biomedical device manufacturing center, the laboratory serves as a critical resource for both academic researchers and startups driving innovation in breakthrough biotechnologies.

The project consists of a 1,826 sf remodel of existing first floor lab spaces at UCSD Jacob Hall to be used as cGMP compliant fabrication rooms for implantable biomedical prototypes including installation of modular cleanroom systems. The new spaces includes Airlock/Pregowning, Airlock/Gowning (ISO 7), Thin Film Deposition Lab (ISO 6), Packaging Lab (ISO 6), Polymer Processing (ISO 6), Resist Processing Lab (ISO 5), and CleanCorridor (ISO 6) connecting the classified cleanrooms. Substantial coordination with the MEP team, cleanroom consultant and general contractor was necessary in order to install the new HVAC ducting and utilities required for the new cleanrooms.
