The Sutter Health Arden Care Center sets a benchmark for the healthcare system’s design standards in Northern California while expanding access to convenient, nationally recognized healthcare.

With a growing demand in the Sacramento community, Sutter Health partnered with Taylor Design in the adaptive reuse of an underutilized office building. The facility was renovated to meet current healthcare standards and accommodate Sutter Health’s present and future space needs. Partnering with the client team in the review and optimization of their new design standards, the Taylor Design team implemented them in real time, while tailoring the design to the unique character of the site.

With an emphasis on reducing patient anxiety and fostering emotional well‑being, the three-story facility incorporates a warm, human‑scaled design, enriched by local artwork and abundant views of nature. Reflecting Sutter’s brand values, the centers supports an integrated model of care in a restorative setting dedicated to healing, dignity, and community wellness.
