Expanding access to high-quality health care in Southern California, the new Kathy Williams Family Health Center in Rancho Mission Viejo is one of the first healthcare projects in California to use mass timber as its primary structural material. The all-electric building aligns with Providence’s “WE ACT” sustainability framework, reflecting a broader commitment to wellness, resilience, and responsible development. Its design draws from the region’s agricultural heritage, incorporating exposed timber, indoor-outdoor connections, and pedestrian-oriented features that promote health and wellbeing.

Beyond its structural innovation, the new health center is designed to serve as a wellness hub, bringing urgent care, imaging, primary and specialty services closer to residents in a growing region. The project demonstrates how sustainable materials, thoughtful design, and mission-driven leadership can converge to create a healthcare facility that reflects both environmental responsibility and community identity.
