The project began with an evaluation of the second-floor day center and gym to improve function and flow. Improving the line of sight between staff and participants was a key project driver. Open wall space was utilized for additional storage of equipment and supplies used weekly for participant activities. The gym was opened up, and distributed staff work zones were created to align with new goals established by the physical therapy team.

The second phase of the project focused on refreshing the existing second-floor day center and gym with new finishes, including flooring, wall paint, acoustic panels, and casework. On the residential third and fourth floors, finishes were replaced in corridors, staff rooms, and common resident areas, also including flooring, wall paint, acoustic panels, and casework. This refresh project modernizes these spaces to meet current On Lok finish standards.
