Kaiser Permanente challenged the Taylor Design team and consultants to “break the mold” by re-imagining the design and performance potential of model medical offices. The facility’s unique design leverages the desert wind’s power as an energy resource, but was also purposely sculpted to calm desert winds throughout entryways, walking areas and healing paths, and to protect its patients and visitors. The LEED Gold certified project also included sustainability goals such as achieving a net-zero energy-efficient building as well as lower total-cost-of-ownership through use of alternative building solutions. The facility houses 94 exam rooms and space for 66 specialty physicians that offer advanced clinical services.
