Taylor Design is a strategy-based design firm with practices in Architectural Design, Interior Design, Planning, and Design Strategy; with offices in northern and southern California.
Taylor Design was commissioned with replacing all of the major hospital services by demolishing an existing building and replacing it with a new 227,000 square-foot acute care building. The team developed a master plan, phasing, and implementation to set strategic goals and accommodate forecasted growth. A detailed phasing approach to site development was developed and made specific design considerations within each phase regarding traffic flows, parking, and patient access to services. Key planning issues included subdivision of the nursing units into neighborhoods to optimize nursing travel distances and staffing levels. Additionally, each unit was evaluated for three different configurations including full on-stage, on/off-stage, and hybrid. The perioperative unit is a fully integrated prep and recovery unit with all bays setup to be PACU capable.
